History of the hotel
Hotel Jan Maria is located in the area of a former pit, "JAN MARIA", which was founded in the 19th century. Excavation started in the year 1844 and coal was extracted until the year 1963 when the pit was closed. The depth of the pit is 453 meters.
The extensively devastated area was bought by the company KR Ostrava a.s. in the year 2000. The company built its headquarters at the premises after an expensive reconstruction. Between the years 2002 and 2003, the cellar area was also reconstructed and a restaurant and stylish wine cellar were opened.
In October 2007, the construction of the HOTEL JAN MARIA**** was launched and the hotel was opened on June 12, 2008.
Hotel Jan Maria realization has been cofinanced by EU fund and Moravian-Silesian Region.
